Pumpkin and Spice

As a pastry-chef-in-training, I love to eat, entertain and create. I spend a lot of time in the kitchen, and I love sharing new things I find, try and bake. This blog chronicles the adventures I have with food- at home,at school, on vacation and in my career. I’m especially excited to share my adventures this coming fall, as I will be starting a six-month externship as a baker at a luxury ski resort in Utah.

Costume Parade

Posted by pumpkin in halloween

It's Halloween! It's Halloween! Gaaaaaaahhhhh!... Sorry. I had to get that out of my system. Now since one of my favorite things about Halloween is costumes (and pumpkins and candy and creepy gothy home decor and...) I thought I'd share a little glimpse of Halloween costumes of years past. I'm a big ol' dork and love couples costumes, so these are Kyle and I as famous duos... and actually is a record of our every Halloween together...

Halloween 2004
Kim Possible and Ron Stoppable.
(If you're not familiar, it's a cartoon on the Disney channel about a teenage girl and her best friend, Ron, who are average high schoolers/crime fighting super spys. It's really a very witty and clever show.)

Kim and Ron

Halloween 2005
Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne.
(I even have a little dog... Awww...)

Sharon and Ozzy

Halloween 2006
Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash
(This was the year Walk the Line came out...)

 Johnny and June

Halloween 2007
Beetlejuice and Lydia
(From the movie Beetlejuice. Specifically from the wedding scene towards the end of the film. My mom made my dress. Kyle's tux was thrift store/vintage shop finds. He even carried plastic bugs in his pockets and talked like Michael Keaton all night.)

 Lydia and Beetlejuice

Since our Halloween party isn't 'til tomorrow night, I'm withholding this year's costume until then. That and I don't have a good picture of it.

So, what are you all going as this year? What was the best thing you ever dressed up as?

Your guy, Kyle is so cool! I'm not certain Joe would participate but of course I'm not too creative with the costumes or that keen. I can't wait to see tomorrow nights!
Happy Halloween

Remember the Belle costume (Beauty and the Beast) that won second place in the homemade costume contest because it didn't look homemade? Happy Halloween!

He's a scientist (but is a bit of a ham), and I was a theatre major in college, but am currently studying to be a pastry chef. I guess that theatrical fascination with wearing costumes never really leaves you!

Favorite costume? My sister and I were "horse-crazy." In 4th grade my mom made me into a black and white pinto pony. She used a white sheet to make the body, rather like the pj's with the hands and feet covered; used black magic marker for the spots and hooves, black yarn for the mane and tail, and she had found a plastic white horse mask. No one recognized me, and I won best costume in our classroom. I was so excited! It was the best costume ever!

I opine that to receive the mortgage loans from banks you must have a good motivation. Nevertheless, one time I've received a bank loan, just because I wanted to buy a bike.
