Pumpkin and Spice

As a pastry-chef-in-training, I love to eat, entertain and create. I spend a lot of time in the kitchen, and I love sharing new things I find, try and bake. This blog chronicles the adventures I have with food- at home,at school, on vacation and in my career. I’m especially excited to share my adventures this coming fall, as I will be starting a six-month externship as a baker at a luxury ski resort in Utah.

Miscellaneous Tidbits

Posted by pumpkin in Untagged

It has been a busy week! My mom was recently in Orlando for a conference, so she came a few days early and spent some time with Kyle and I doing fun touristy kinda things. Most notably, we went to the zoo, where we fed giraffes... (That's my mom feeding the giraffe. They ate a rye cracker- it looked an awful lot like a Wasa cracker.)

OMG! Giraffe!

And fed lories, which are a kind of parrot... (They ate little cups of fruit pulp- it smelled like watermelon and strawberry.)

We also went kayaking, which I didn't get pictures of because I didn't bring my camera. (I was afraid of ruining it in the water.)

And one morning we woke up at 5:30a (I didn't know clocks went that early- haha!) and went to the beach to watch the sun rise over the Atlantic. It was really quite breathtaking.

Then, after Mom left, we went to Jacon (an anime convention held in Orlando.) Kyle and I aren't really into anime, but a couple of our friends are organizers for the convention, and they got us in free. It was a blast to get to hang out with our friends (we don't get to see them too often), plus we got to meet George Lowe, the actor that voices Space Ghost on Space Ghost Coast to Coast...

(Note that Kyle has his eyes shut. Niiiice.)

Also! I got a full time job as a cake decorator!

Oh, and even with all this activity, I still found time to bake. So stay tuned- I have a recipe coming for a chocolate chip blondie that will rock your socks off.

Congratulations on the job!!

I loved feeding the birds at the Wild Animal Park in SD. Just like those. Very cute.

And you got to meet George Lowe?? *JEALOUS* Avid animation and anime fan here. Loved him in SGC2C, especially the ones from early 2000s and also as Dad in The Brak Show.

(my nerd is showing)

I hope he was hilarious. smilies/tongue.gif
